About the Secondary Education Department

The Secondary Education Department (SED), Government of Balochistan, is responsible for the planning, administration, and delivery of secondary education (Primary to Grade-10) across the province.

Our Mandate

The mandate of the School Education Department is to regulate, manage, and improve public sector secondary education in accordance with provincial and national education policies.

Plan, regulate, and administer secondary education across public sector institutions.

Formulate and implement education policies in alignment with provincial and national frameworks.

Manage teacher recruitment, deployment, training, and performance within public sector schools.

Develop, maintain, and upgrade school infrastructure, facilities, and learning environments.

Ensure effective governance, monitoring, evaluation, and accountability of education projects.

Promote equitable access, quality learning outcomes, and inclusion across all districts.

Organizational Structure

The department is headed by the Secretary Secondary Education, who serves as the principal administrative authority and is responsible for overall policy execution, coordination, and performance management of the education system.

The Head Office provides strategic direction, policy formulation, regulatory oversight, and coordination with provincial and federal institutions. It oversees planning, budgeting, human resource management, monitoring and evaluation, and the implementation of education reforms.

District Education Offices serve as the primary administrative and implementation units at the local level. They are responsible for overseeing public sector schools within their respective districts and ensuring the effective delivery of education services.

The department also operates specialized project units and reform programs to implement development initiatives, infrastructure projects, and donor-supported interventions. These units function under defined governance arrangements and support the department’s priorities related to access, quality, and system strengthening.

The School Education Department works closely with attached departments and examination authorities responsible for curriculum implementation, assessments, certifications, and specialized education functions. They operate under approved mandates while maintaining functional coordination with SED.
